{"id":1110,"date":"2021-01-31T12:10:27","date_gmt":"2021-01-31T05:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otvietnam.net\/en\/?p=1110"},"modified":"2021-01-31T12:10:48","modified_gmt":"2021-01-31T05:10:48","slug":"i-thrive-supports-capacity-building-for-rehab-professionals-in-thua-thien-hue-and-quang-nam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/otvietnam.net\/en\/i-thrive-supports-capacity-building-for-rehab-professionals-in-thua-thien-hue-and-quang-nam\/","title":{"rendered":"I-THRIVE supports capacity building for rehab professionals in Thua Thien &#8211; Hue and Quang Nam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>As part of the \u2018Interdiscilinary rehabilitation services supporting children with intellectual and developmental disabilities to thrive\u2019 (I-THRIVE) project, the twelve-month in-service trainings for rehabilitation professionals in Thua Thien &#8211; Hue and Quang Nam province have successfully concluded<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I-THRIVE is sponsored by the US Agency of International Development (USAID) with the Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP) being implementing partner.<\/p>\n<p>MCNV is in charge of conducting one of I-THRIVE\u2019s three objectives, which is enhancing the capacity of rehabilitation professionals at provincial and district levels through short full-time in-service trainings and coaching.<\/p>\n<p>The training was conducted by the Hue University of Medicines and Pharmacy and Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy, via the model of three 12-month courses covering three key areas of Rehabilitation Techniques, which are Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and Physio Therapy.<\/p>\n<p>During the 12-month training, the trainees had chance to participate in both theory and practice session at the Universities as well as clinical practice at hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>On January 15th and January 21<sup>st<\/sup>, 2021, two workshops themed \u2018Enhancing the Capacity of Rehabilitation Professionals\u2019 were held in Quang Nam Province and Thua Thien \u2013 Hue Province, respectively. These workshops\u00a0 aimed to review the three training courses, confer the Certificate of Graduation to the trainees and discuss on clinical practice support at targeted provincial hospitals and district health centers, and effective management of the newly-graduated rehabilitation professionals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1117 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/otvietnam.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/DSC04724-1024x723.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"706\" srcset=\"http:\/\/otvietnam.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/DSC04724-1024x723.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/otvietnam.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/DSC04724-300x212.jpg 300w, http:\/\/otvietnam.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/DSC04724-768x543.jpg 768w, http:\/\/otvietnam.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/DSC04724-1536x1085.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/otvietnam.net\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/DSC04724-2048x1447.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Dr.Pham Dung, MCNV Country Director awards the Certificate to trainees graduated from the OT 12-month course.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After one year of hard work, despite the various challenges brought about by COVID-19 and natural disasters, all of the 80 trainees, who are health workers from four provinces of Quang Nam, Thua Thien \u2013 Hue, Quang Tri and Binh Dinh have successfully graduated.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, MCNV Country Director, Dr. Pham Dung expressed his pleasure at the results of the trainings, noting the efforts of the trainees and trainers in overcoming multi difficulties to fulfill the course. Currently, approximately 12 million Vietnamese people are at the age of 60 and above, accounting for 13% of the population. The percentage of people over the age of 60 is expected to rise to 23 million in 2053, accounting for 20% of the population.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>*Concurrently, the increase of non-communicable diseases (stroke, heart diseases, etc) and injuries are leading to the increase of demand for rehabilitation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>*Also according to GSO, in Vietnam, 80% of persons with disabilities live in rural areas, causing difficult in accessing to Rehabilitation services.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>*In order to tackle the aforementioned issues, rehabilitation services must be provided at multi-disciplinary health facilities, especially those in province and district levels. However, Vietnam\u2019s rehabilitation workforce are still in shortage.
