On 17 July 2023, the Vietnam OT Conference 2023 was conducted by University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) HCMC in collaboration with Medical Committee Netherland Vietnam (MCNV) funded by USAID with 500 distinguished guests and delegates attending via both online and offline medium.
The conference was honored to welcome the representatives from Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Training, National Action Center for Toxic Chemical and Environmental Treatment (NACCET), USAID, World Federation of Occupational Therapists, World Physiotherapy, Vietnam Rehabilitation Association, Vietnam Physical Therapy Association and healthcare facilities and hospitals; as well as the attendance from the Directive Boards from University of Medicine and Pharmacy HCMC and Hai Duong Medical Technical University. This shows a great support in OT substantial development in the future.
Moreover, the present of the 4 special guests is an absolute highlight of the event, from the highest professional organization of Occupational Therapy and leading educational organizations from Australia and India, we were pleased to welcome: Ms. Samantha Shann – the President of WFOT, Prof Anne Cusick and Prof Lynette Mackenzie from University of Sydney and Prof Shovan Saha from Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
The Vietnam OT conference 2023 was a summary of the current OT status in Vietnam and in the world, it also reflected the common trend and movement in Rehabilitation at the moment, with many presenting topics ranging from different specialization, including: neuro-rehabilitation – stroke, dementia, splinting and assistive devices, pediatrics and community practice.
The conference also put a hallmark for OT in Vietnam which is the Vietnam OT network, presenting the voice of the profession in the country, as well as stepping toward to join the global family of Occupational Therapy.The conference was not only the time for professional knowledge and practical information, it was also time to connect and create new work opportunities for people who shared the same interests, inspiring from the stories and the actual OT practice in Vietnam.
