Hand Therapy Program at An Binh Hospital
Event Date: November 7-8, 2024 The Hand Therapy Program, organized by the Department of Rehabilitation at An Binh Hospital with the professional support of Dr. Nancy Chee from Samuel Merritt University, was successfully held and left a lasting impression. Over the course of two days, experts: · Discussed and updated knowledge on hand therapy, applying practical techniques to clinical cases related to hand injuries of orthopedic and neurological origins. · Participated in practical activities such as splint-making, enhancing skills in treating hand injuries. The program received enthusiastic participation from many rehabilitation doctors and therapists from various specialties. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and share experiences. A 9-month course in Occupational Therapy (OT) was jointly launched by MCNV and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) on May 16th, 2022 in Hue City (Thua Thien – Hue province). The launching ceremony was attended by representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); Board of Directors of Hue UMP; lecturers and 34 trainees who are nurses, rehabilitation technicians and physicians working in hospitals and health facilities in the provinces of Thua Thien – Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Kon Tum and Binh Dinh. An orientation workshop for freshmen was held on January 20, 2021 by the Faculty of Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation, Hai Duong Medical Technical University (HMTU). The event aims to facilitate students in making the optimal choice of major for their coming learning journey and career. Currently, the Faculty is offering two majors: Physio Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT). This year, the Faculty welcomes 90 new students who have just got admitted for the Bachelor program period 2020-2024. To contribute to filling the gaps of OT workforce and services at both provincial and district levels, MCNV has been cooperated with Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) to provide a 12-month course on Occupational Therapy (OT) in which Hue UMP sent to this training course two participants who are teachers working at Rehabilitation Department (called OT practitioners hereafter). The training course will end in December 2020. As planned, in the future Hue UMP will organize Continuing Medical Education (CME) course focusing on OT practice for some common heath conditions.
