9-MONTH COURSE IN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY JOINTLY LAUNCHED BY MCNV & HUE UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY

A 9-month course in Occupational Therapy (OT) was jointly launched by MCNV and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) on May 16th, 2022 in Hue City (Thua Thien – Hue province). The launching ceremony was attended by representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); Board of Directors of Hue UMP; lecturers and 34 trainees who are nurses, rehabilitation technicians and physicians working in hospitals and health facilities in the provinces of Thua Thien – Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Kon Tum and Binh Dinh. February 23rd – An online workshop on developing curriculum for a 9-month course in occupational therapy (OT) was successfully organized by the Medical Committee Netherlands-Vietnam (MCNV) and the Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (Hue UMP). An orientation workshop for freshmen was held on January 20, 2021 by the Faculty of Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation, Hai Duong Medical Technical University (HMTU). The event aims to facilitate students in making the optimal choice of major for their coming learning journey and career. Currently, the Faculty is offering two majors: Physio Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT). This year, the Faculty welcomes 90 new students who have just got admitted for the Bachelor program period 2020-2024. Recently, 12 Bachelor program students of HCMC University of Medicines and Pharmacy have completed their four-year journey in Occupational Therapy (OT) major. MCNV Country Director Dr.Pham Dung was present at the Graduation ceremony held on December 24. In this special ocassion, on behalf of MCNV, Dr.Dung Pham handed congratulatory gifts to all the new 12 Bachelor degree holders. He congrated them on successfully concluding the course, wishing them all the best in their following paths, whether it be working as Occupational Therapist or higher learning and research. August 6th 2019 – 36 students have received their bachelor degrees in Occupational Therapy (OT) from the Haiduong Medical Technical University and become the first Occupational Therapists in Vietnam.
